LAURA WOODY
comédienne, chanteuse, interprète
Born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana; Laura grew up between a playpen in the greenrooms of the local theatres and various recording studios where she began lending her voice and image to commercials, museum installations and industrial films from the age of three.
Once she finally abandoned her dream of becoming a paleontologist, she attended The Theatre Conservatory at the Chicago College of Performing Arts in Chicago where she earned a B.F.A. with honors in Theatre Performance in 2001 and then set off for the West Coast.
After a brief stint in San Francisco, she headed south to Los Angeles where she began performing in local bars and concert venues.
But Paris was calling…she moved to the City of Light in 2005 and attended L'École internationale de théâtre Jacques Lecoq (2006/2007) and after years of nannying, waitressing, secretary-ing, translating and playing “on the side” she finally decided to make her side hustle a full-time job.
Between making music with her band, The Barettes (Bad Stone/Gum Tapes), improvising with The Improfessionals and “New”, the Improvised Musical and doing theatre with the Big Funk Company the net appeared and she is currently appearing in “Danlor, l’Insolent Roland Garros” (m.e.s. Eric Bouvron) in addition to work in film, radio and tv.
Née et élevée à Indianapolis, dans l'Indiana, Laura a grandi entre un parc dans les “greenrooms" des théâtres locaux et divers studios d'enregistrement où elle a commencé à prêter sa voix et son image à des publicités, des installations de musées et des films industriels dès l'âge de trois ans.
Après avoir abandonné son rêve de devenir paléontologue, elle a suivi les cours du Conservatoire de théâtre du Chicago College of Performing Arts à Chicago, où elle a obtenu un B.F.A. avec mention en interprétation théâtrale en 2001, puis est partie pour la côte ouest.
Après un bref passage à San Francisco, elle s'est dirigée vers le sud, à Los Angeles, où elle a commencé à se produire dans les bars locaux et les salles de concert.
Mais Paris l'appelait... Elle a rejoint la Ville Lumière en 2005 et a suivi les cours de l'École internationale de théâtre Jacques Lecoq (2006/2007). Après des années de nounou, de serveuse, de secrétaire, de traductrice et de musicienne, elle a finalement décidé de faire de son activité secondaire un emploi à plein temps.
Entre la musique avec son groupe, The Barettes (Bad Stone/Gum Tapes), l'improvisation avec The Improfessionals et "New", the Improvised Musical et le théâtre avec la Big Funk Company, le filet est apparu et elle joue actuellement dans "Danlor, l'Insolent Roland Garros" (m.e.s. Eric Bouvron) en plus de travailler au film, à la radio et à la télévision.
